South Division – Green
On Tuesday we hosted Royal Perth and after some very tight matches we settled for a drawn match – 2 ½ each.
Kim Matthews and Frank Starkey continued their winning ways (3/2) as did Davy Owen and Matt Thomas (3/1).
Some of the golf wasn’t pretty but it was effective – including Franks putt off the green on 16 to within 6 inches that sealed the match. Given all the dips and undulations, it was a great effort. Davy and Matt yinged and yanged all day but it took until the 17th to finally win the match.
Dean King and Haydn Corbett squared their match whilst Phil Johnson and Gary Bakes were unlucky (3 and 1) as were Dave Ball and Nick Pritchard (2 and 1).
Of particular note was the praise we received from Royal Perth players for how good our course was looking – they were quite simply taken aback with one chap even suggesting he might join us next year. Huge thank you again to Dane and his team – the work you do is greatly appreciated.
Our next two matches are away at Royal Perth and Hartfield – a couple of wins will help to ensure we maintain top spot for the season, so fingers crossed.

Melville travelled to Wanneroo GC to play top of the table Joondalup in an important clash. It was an incredible day for our Individual Senior Pennants team yesterday. Our team with a combined 32 handicap halved 2.5 to 2.5, the match against Joondalup with a combined handicap of 6!
Nigel and I were beaten but Big Sam won 2:1. Bruce halved the match on the 18th asking his opposition to putt a 2-footer which he duly missed!
And then smooth Italian Tom Colella got up and down from the bunker on 18 to win 1 up! A magnificent effort seeing as each player had a handicap of five shots lower than us. A combined 6 handicap vs 32 combined!!!
So proud of the team
Next stop Karrinyup GC on Monday.
